How To Up Your Game With Lumen Dynamic Connections

I’m from Wisconsin, so naturally, every Sunday during the football season, I’m rooting for my beloved Green Bay Packers. As someone who spends a lot of time communicating new ideas to business leaders, I must admit how much I admire legendary Packers coach, Vince Lombardi, whose succinct observations still ring true 50 years after he roamed the sidelines of Lambeau Field.

“People who work together will win,” he once said, “whether it be against complex football defenses or the problems of society.” For enterprises around the world, one of those problems involves network provisioning and providing connectivity at speeds dictated by today’s digital age. They need fast, flexible, and cost-efficient ways to connect their data centers with multiple cloud environments, often on a global scale.

To address this challenge, Lumen has been working together with its customers to develop an on-demand, network connectivity solution called Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections. We recently added Oracle to a solid roster of cloud partners, including Amazon Web Services and AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure and Azure Government, and Google Cloud. As I was thinking about the advantages offered by this service, it struck me how our approach mirrors the same strategies used by successful NFL football teams. Let me show you what I mean.

Good Teams Know When To Make Adjustments

All football teams do extensive planning before they face their opponent, but as the game goes on, good teams quickly figure out what works and what doesn’t, and they make the necessary adjustments to win. Enterprises need to make adjustments all the time, too, whether to meet seasonal demands, major workload migrations, or data backups. With Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections, we give them the agility to make real-time changes without waiting. They can determine where they want to connect and at what speed, while only paying for what they use with no long-term contracts.

Good Teams Know How To Score Quickly

Football is a game built around a time clock. Successful teams are good at moving down the field in a hurry, so they can score the winning points before time runs out.  With Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections, customers control the clock, too, though powerful self-service tools allow them to quickly and easily add or remove Ethernet services to cloud or data environments. Whether they use our secure portal or API integration, customers can rapidly transform their network ecosystem as both application and infrastructure requirements change. We provide the efficiency and scalability they need to succeed.

Good Teams Have A Good Defense

Coach Lombardi once said that “the team with the best defense wins.” IT professionals at all levels will agree on that point. Security remains their number one concern when it comes to enterprise cloud and data center strategies. Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections takes your enterprise off the public web and moves you to an inherently secure private environment, minimizing your exposure to external threats. And if something unexpected does happen, Lumen has the resiliency and the redundancy to make sure your data keeps moving where it needs to go.

To put it simply, Cloud Connect Dynamic Connections allows our customers to “up their game” as easily as Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers can throw a spiral pass 50 yards downfield.
